Eco Laundry: Indian Soap Nuts

If like me you swap as many chemical-based products for natural alternatives you will love those soap nuts.

I usually grate white Marseille soap that I use as my laundry soap but who could resist to those re-usable shells, so easy to use and so effective!

It so worth the investment, over the long run it's much cheaper than any natural or non-natural alternative.

Indian soap nuts are berry shells that naturally contain soap.

They grow on the Sapindus mukorossi (Soap Berry) tree in the Himalayas.

Soap Nuts are gentle on both clothes and skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis.

Because they are so mild, they are perfect for baby clothes and even cloth diapers.

So easy to use!

Chuck a few in a linen bag.

Put the bag with your clothes in the washing machine.

Voilà!

Re-use until the nuts start changing colour and look 'old' (you'll notice the difference), usually after about 4-6 loads/washes.
